Crown of Sunshine was born from the journey of Ashley Toole, a proud young woman from South Jersey whose relationship with her hair has been both challenging and transformative. From childhood, Ashley explored every style and treatment imaginable—hot combs pressed against her edges, perms that burned her scalp—searching for a way to embrace her crown.

In 2016, everything changed. After experiencing significant hair loss, Ashley made the courageous decision to embrace her natural hair. What began as necessity soon became a lifestyle. Her curls became her identity, her pride, and her joy. She immersed herself in learning how to care for her kinks and coils, nurturing them with patience and love. The transition was not easy, but it was healing. Over time, the rituals of pre-shampoos, hot oil treatments, deep conditioners, masks, and protein therapies became more than maintenance—they became therapy, a way of honoring herself.

As Ashley’s journey continued, she discovered another challenge: her sensitive skin. Dryness, dark spots, and abrasions revealed that not all skincare products were made with her in mind.
